ProTerra, is more than 400 percent more efficient than any standard electric tank-type water heater and is more eco-friendly than ever at up to 4.0 Uniform Energy Factor (UEF), the company says.

According to the E.P.A.,  UEF is the newest water heater overall efficiency measure. The higher the UEF value is, the more efficient the water heater is. To put ProTerra’s UEF in perspective, Energy Star-qualified electric storage waters that are less than 55 gallons or less must have a UEF of 2.20 or greater, while units more than 55 gallons must be at least 2.0

ProTerra has a compact design making it a perfect tank replacement for small spaces in a home. Traditionally, hybrid water heaters require more space than a conventional tank system. ProTerra also is available in a wide selection of sizes that include 40, 50, 65, and 80 gallons to support various hot water needs. In addition, Rheem says the ProTerra model with LeakGuard “is now the industry’s only hybrid water heater with built-in leak detection and auto-shutoff that limits water loss from the tank to no more than 20 ounces.”

EcoNet also offers other features, including scheduling around peak electricity rates, an energy usage tracker to manage consumption without sacrificing comfort, and five operating modes to balance energy usage and hot water availability.
